In 1985, Canton Chair Rental was formed when Bob Maloney, and his son Tim, purchased the rental inventory of Canton Chair and Table Company. The Maloneys operated (since 1972) a tool rental facility (A Rental Emporium) on Lincolnway East in Massillon/Perry Heights, Ohio. Canton Chair Rental moved from its original location on Tuscarawas Street to 20th Street in 1991, and in 2000 to its present site at 4850 Southway Street S.W. in Canton, Ohio.

The firm and principals of the company have won local and national recognition. In 2001 the American Rental Association awarded its National Rental Excellence award to Canton Chair Rental. The company earned a SCOPE award from the Greater Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce.

Tim Maloney, President, has twice received the American Rental Association's Meritorious Service Award, a national honor. He also was awarded the Region 5 Outstanding Service Award from the A.R.A. Mr. Maloney is a graduate of St. Thomas Aquinas High School, and obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from Mount Union College in 1977. In 1987 he earned a Masters of Business Administration from Kent State University. Tim is very involved with the local community and trade organizations, currently serving on the board of directors of the Stark County Visitors and Convention Bureau, the Canton Chamber of Commerce and the American Rental Association and as chairman of the board of Trillium Family Solutions. He served as General Chairman of the 1998 Pro Football Hall of Fame Festival.
